Breathing is one of the few things we do all day without thinking. In yoga, we bring a little attention to it, and that small shift can change how a whole class feels.
Breath as an anchor
When the mind wanders, the breath is always there to come back to. Following an inhale and an exhale gives your attention somewhere simple to rest.
Linking breath and movement
In flowing classes, movements are often paired with an inhale or an exhale. Rather than a rule to get right, think of it as an invitation to move a little more slowly and smoothly.
A small practice to try
Next time you wait for the kettle, place one hand on your belly. Feel it rise as you breathe in and soften as you breathe out. Repeat five times.
Your practice does not need to be perfect to be meaningful. Start with what feels manageable, and let consistency grow over time.
