We often treat rest as the thing we do once everything else is finished. In practice, rest is part of what helps everything else feel possible.
Stillness is still practice
Slower classes like Yin & Restore give the body time to settle and the nervous system time to soften. Holding a supported pose for a few minutes is its own kind of work.
Small pauses count
Rest doesn’t have to mean an hour on the mat. A few unhurried breaths between tasks, or five minutes lying down with your legs up the wall, can be enough to reset.
A small practice to try
Before bed, lie on your back with a pillow under your knees. Let your arms rest by your sides and count ten slow breaths.
Your practice does not need to be perfect to be meaningful. Start with what feels manageable, and let consistency grow over time.
